Carp fishing
 
 
On this page i will tell you something about my passion,called Carping.
I was always found of fishing,even when i was a young boy.
I spend allot of time at the waterside,fishing or sometimes just looking.
With looking you can discover alot,by looking at other fishermen,or just at the water.

The first fish i did catch where roach,perch,bream and pike.And that in all sizes.
When i was around 10 years old,i saw a man catch a very big fish.
That fish was my first carp i ever saw in my live.It took him some minutes to get it in his net.

I started to fish at Carp when i was around 22.I went fishing with a friend of mine,
who only fished at carp.He asked me,why i didn't try to have one rod on carp....
And i thought...yeah...why not.He had the equipment for catching carp and would help me with it as well.

That day..it happend...I did capture my first CARP....and it was a great feeling.
From that day on..i had it...what they call......CARP-FEVER..!!!!!!
The Carp was 12 ponds,around 13,2lbs.

From that day on,i was sold to Carp fishing.I went very oft...and special on Carp now.
I got my experience from fishing alot,not catching any for days..sometimes weeks.
There was one year,that i stayed fishing on a little pond for 400 hours!!!!,
before i got my first carp.
Maybe i did some wrong....maybe just unlucky...but i stayed there till i got fish.
Till now i have caught around 125-150 Carp's in weight from 3 till 20 pounds.
My longest and most heavy one till now,is caught in a little fishing pond in Holland.
It was 20,4 pounds (22,4Lbs) and 90cm long.See here the photo of the fish and me.
That water is around 6,4Ha and very easy to fish at.
The biggest caught there is around 28pounds.
But there are some stories that there should be bigger ones.The water is old enought for it.

There are in Holland many waters and all of them have Carp in it.
Maybe not all the very big ones,but in my eyes,every Carp is one.
And every Carp deserve to be treated good and handle with care.
Because the little 10 pounds Carp...maybe can be the 50 pounds in the future.
The record in Holland is now a little over 50 pounds and comes from the "Nieuwkoopse plassen".
From this water they saw more records already and likely more to come as well. 

 
But the world record won't come from there.The biggest Carps come from France,Bulgaria,Romania,etc.
France is called to be the CARP-MEKKA...the heaven for the Carp anglers.
I went there now 5 times.
First two times to "lac de la Floret D'Orient" (2300Ha),near Troyes.
Thats a very big lake from 2300ha.The times that we went there,we didn't catch any.

Thirth time it was "petit etang du Stock" (120Ha) around 100km south of Metz.
There we where not very lucky.Not much places to sit,
because we didn't want to go too far from our summerhouse.
We went 2 nights fishing,first night we where sitting shoulder to shoulder with some other,
Dutch,Germand and French fishermen.And no fish....for either of us.
The second day we where the only ones.
But it started to get very bad weather....much wind and thunder and lightning everywhere.....spooky :)
In this weather we got 3 runs...they where not all fast ones.
From one of them we got a fish,our first France Carp..a mirror from.....6 pounds.
When we came back to Holland,and told everyone about our French Carp...they laught.
"You went for a 6 pounds Carp to France":they said and laught.
But...they never went there and so they don't know how hard it can be to catch one.
I know,that many fishermen blank,they don't catch anything,like we did as well.

The fourth time we went for "etang du la Muche" ,about 40km from Metz.
A nice pond with Carp till 40 pounds in it.
We fished here 3 times,and met a very nice French guy,who joined us.
Together we got some very nice Carps,between 12 and 26 pounds.

The fifth,and last time still,we went to "lac du Salagou" (720Ha).
This is a very beautifull water and has very good and big Carps in it as well.
When we came there,we saw that there where alot of other fishermen around the lake.
The most nice and good places where taken.
But we found a nice place,near a old bridge,who was complete under water.
On the bridge was around 1 meter water and the fishfinder showed us alot of fish as well.
We where there for 7 days and nights and where not lucky.
We didn't get a Carp run in those days,all we got where two breams,
who liked our double 20mm boilies very much.
Around the lake they did catch some Carp,but around 300 meter from the side.
The Carp where eating far..to far for us,and not in our bay.
If we where lucky...and we had the wind good.....but we didn't...
I think..that luck must be with you as well,i know that the place we where sitting was good.
We heared that 2 weeks before,some guys got good and many fish,
with a very big 40 pounder as well.
Maybe they where more lucky...maybe better prepared....it's all a big guess...
